What Cameras To Stay Away From When Doing A US Government Quote?

In the next upcoming months I have a camera quote for an Air Force base, I'm not sure on the details yet since I haven't walked it. But with the talk over the banning of Hikvision and Dahua I was curious what cameras I need to stay away from. Obviously Hikvision and Dahua but if I remember correctly, they've been known to rebrand camera models and I can't find the extent to how far that goes.

Is there a guide or chart that shows the cameras that are rebranded as such?

Thanks!

Austin, yes, see: Dahua OEM Directory and Hikvision OEM Directory.

We are seeing many OEMs re-evaluate their suppliers with the intent to free themselves of 'banned' products before the official start in 11 months. For example, most visibly, Panasonic USA Dumps Dahua.

I would expect many more of these OEMs to stop by next year. Of course, who they switch to will be an interesting question / issue.

This is exactly what I was looking for!

Thanks John!

Austin, if you want to play it safe, why not create an easier white list, instead of relying on a less reliable black list. It is well known that brands attempt to hide their OEM relationships. If you stick with well known, reliable manufacturers, you can't go wrong.

I'm sure this list could be much longer, but here are a few very safe ones:

Axis

Avigilon

Hanwha

(wow, this is harder and shorter than I expected...)

Yeah Avigilon was definitely on my list of 'safe brands'. I was also thinking maybe Bosch??

And yeah I just wasn't sure how to find out the OEM relationships...

Thanks!

Bosch has OEMed Dahua product in its line.

Bosch brands some of their lower end cameras from Dahua.

At this point I cannot think of other manufacturers than the ones Jon already listed that I would use.

I think it is fitting to disclose that I work for a distributor and that we distribute, amongst others, Axis, Avigilon, and Hanwha - in addition to Bosch.

To our knowledge, Bosch does not rebrand Dahua cameras, but they are manufactured by Dahua, but running Bosch firmware. We've confirmed this on multiple 2000/4000/5000 series domes and bullets. If there are indeed straight rebrands with Dahua firmware, we'd be interested.

Their lower end recorders are manufactured by Dahua with modified Dahua firmware on them, not Bosch. However, they make some hardware and software changes, as well. We look at this in Bosch Divar NVR Tested vs Dahua.
