What Americans Should Do About The Ingram Micro Acquisition

Here are some suggestions for getting the most domestic benefit from the $6,000,000,000 buyout of Ingram Micro.

For Ingram Micro Owners/Shareholders

Avoid giving China it's money right back. At least on the first use of the money. Start/invest in true U.S. Companies, not shell resellers of Chinese product.

For Ingram Micro Customers

Once the deal closes, migrate your business to TechData/CDW or one of the other U.S. disties. As your IM contacts switch to other disties, follow them.

For Ingram Micro Employees

Seek employment elsewhere in the industry, the business isn't shrinking, it's just moving.

Repeat for future acquisitions.

Why the opposition? If anything, China is essentially giving the US free money at this point.

HNA owning Ingram is not likely going to raise prices, right? And if service goes down, distribution is such a commodity, they will just jump to TechData, CDW, etc.

I do feel a little bad for the rank and file Ingram employees. They are going to get very little benefits (stock) and most of the pain as the deal / assimilation unfolds.

Not opposing, just proposing.

Just saying that we should keep their money here, as opposed to giving it back. Otherwise in 5 years we'll just have $6,000,000,000 worth of broken gadgets and no company.

But if Ingram fails, other US distributors will pick it up? Do you think Ingram's going to succeed or fail owned by HNA?

Why not, if the reason is because of American rejection of Chinese ownership of conglomerates? Maybe we end up paying more for logistics, but at least we keep the quarter going around and around in our own vending machines.

Also, Fed-Ex and UPS are taking more everyday from the true box pushers.
