Welcome Duc Tran To IPVM!
Join me in welcoming Duc Tran to IPVM! Duc joins as a software engineer.
Earlier this year, Duc graduated with a BS in Computer Science from Lehigh University, minutes away from our Bethelem office / lab.
Duc has already been working for a number of months and implemented the first click / no-login feature for emails features to make it easier for members to view new reports on the go. He is also working on adding AMP and making the IPVM site a PWA to improve member experience on mobile phones.
Duc joins Seth on the IPVM development team as we aim to improve our software offerings for members. Also, look out for the Calculator 3.1 release later this week.
Duc can be reached at duc @ ipvm.com. If you have any advice or suggestions, feel free to email Duc or post in the comments. Thanks!
That looks like New Relic. See this page on New Relic's forum: I captured this NREUM thingy and don't know what it does - Browser - New Relic Explorers Hub
The code you have pulled out of their page is New Relic Browser monitoring. This is Javascript which lets the website track the performance of pages for their live sites and for the customers using it.
It provides performance data back for how long the page took to load, where in the world you are from and time each element loading to show where any degraded performance may be.
best of luck to you, Duc!
btw, and if you don’t know already, the secret sauce in IPVM’s web technology is mostly contained in the monolithic, organically obfuscated, inline javascript function which begins every page (and which is rumored to have been written by John himself on a bender in a single weekend in 2007), shown here (abridged):
Thanks Marty! I will surely try my best!
Thanks Jonathan! Adding to John's comment, besides from the fact that AMP performs really well in the context of google search, where a lot of our traffics coming from, AMP and PWA complement each other perfectly (see How AMP and PWA relate to each other - amp.dev). Since IPVM is aiming to better members' mobile experiences, I believe AMP is a very important feature!
Say Hello from Vietnam.
Good Morning, Vietnam!
Google is so big and so important for mobile web traffic that it makes sense to offer it. We don't accept advertising anyway, so it's not much of a tradeoff for us.

welcome Duc,
I look forward to your contributions here @ IPVM :)
Welcome Duc
I thought AMP should be avoided like the plague?
Thanks! Feels good to receive greetings from fellow Vietnameses!
Thanks Thao! It's good to see fellow Vietnameses enjoying the site!
Great Duc Tran. I am from Vietnam now.
Congrat Mr Duc and hope we can have more improvement !
Say Hello from Vietnam.
I'm glad that you're enjoying the Camera Calculator! Since I'm not currently in charge of the Calculator, but Seth is, I'll let him know about your feedback ;)
Thanks John for your kind words! Hope you enjoy the first click feature ;)
Welcome aboard Duc! Now if you could look into offering color icons and FOV options for the Camera Calculator, you'd be everyone's hero! ;-)
Welcome Duc and thanks for the improvements!
Thanks Austin! It's my pleasure to help improving IPVM members' experience.
Welcome aboard Duc Tran! We look forward to seeing the improvements to the mobile interface.
