Hello Joe:
Embedded web-based access like Axis Entry Manager or Avigilon ACM Embedded are not as common as you might expect.
The Good: They are serverless, license-less, and easy to install. It is less expensive to get simple access up and going in a hurry.
The Bad: Typically, integration is limited. Stuff like no onboard video, no advanced features like elevator access or visitor management, or even storage of credential thumbnail ID pictures.
The Ugly: Embedded systems are often slow. They are resource limited, so chugging through things like schedule updates or report downloads can take a long time. (Bad if you're impatient) They also might be limited to a smaller number of doors (ie: only 1 door in HID Edge EVO Solo) and updating simple routine settings might mean logging in to multiple embedded systems.
If you have specific questions regarding a particular system, feel free to ask. We can help!
