How To Differentiate Digital Vs Non-Digital WDR

Jul 02, 2013We discuss this in our WDR tutorial.
#1 Ask the manufacturer if the camera's WDR uses multiple exposures? If they do not confirm 'yes', then it's digital.
#2 Assume it's digital unless the manufacturer says explicitly otherwise. Most cameras marketed as WDR are digital only.
#3 If a line has multiple series with DVR, typically only the top one is 'true' WDR.
#4 Ignore dB ratings as they are self-reported and have a weak correlation to WDR performance.
If you are interested in a certain manufacturer, we can help verify / validate? For instance, here's our explanation of Axis digital vs multi-exposure WDR.
