I'm looking for reviews on the Verint VMS. The informaiton on IPVM currently seems fairly dated (2012). That noted, I'm hearing that they offer a good banking solution. Any info, reviews, opinions, etc. on the VMS and/or cameras will be much apperciated.

David, Verint's commitment to video surveillance has wavered over the years. They definitely used to be a major player in banking, by way of their Loronix acquisition 15 years ago or so. I am sure they still have legacy banking clients they have maintained over the years.

Verint still has a sales force within video surveillance but I have not seen much of a commitment for them on the video surveillance development side.

As for the cameras, they were definitely OEMed (if I recall via Vivotek), are old, and should definitely be avoided.

Is there a specific reason you are considering them vs manufacturers that are much more focused within video surveillance?

I have not seen anyone update past V6.4 before ripping out. The product has some serious bugs/quirks even though it does have some novel failover features.  The customer base has dwindled but I know Verint used to be in Walmart and some Lowe’s stores as late as 2013.  They may still have a presence there.

I have never done work in banks so I can not verify their presence.

I worked for Verint about 10 years ago.  A that time, Verint had three business units: Video, Call Center, and Legal Call Intercept.  Video is self explanatory.  Call Center was automated and routed phone systems with voice analytics.  For example, if you called Sears and your voice sounded agitate, you would be put in a faster queue.  Legal Call intercept is phone tapping and listening.  From what I understand, Verint was the technology driving the ECHELON Project at the time ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ECHELON ).  They also made cell tower repeater recorders in a suitcase - you know of a bad guy who will be traveling.  Sit at the airport near him, and turn the suitcase on.  It finds the weakest cell tower, copies and spoofs it, and now becomes the most powerful cell signal in the area, conveniently recording every call that comes through it.

Legal call intercept was the big money at the time for the company, but it was really only talked about in hushed tones.  The running line was "we have eight customers, and we can't tell you who they are."  Many of us felt like the video and call center systems were really just public cover for the call intercept and intelligence arm, and development priority seemed to play this out.  The system was very reliable, but it was always two years behind the curve.

Verint is innovating within the Security Division.  Their focus is on a clients global security initiatives and takes into account the value of overall situational awareness.

Take a look at:

Situational Awareness Platform

Social Medial Platform

Verint Dispatch Manager - Which also offers "remote duress button" using cell phone app

And even their Call Recording and how it can be used to enhance the overall security goal of a campus

For content purposes I work for a systems integrator and we partner with many VMS manufacturers, not just Verint, and have success with Verint when the time is taken to configure the systems properly.

#3, thanks for the feedback!

In terms of their innovating, what is new? For example, on their situational awareness platform, that was acquired from Rontal 6 years ago. Has much been done to it since then?

What is new with their VMS or their cameras?

Btw, to clarify, we have reached out periodically to Verint but without any response. Given the lack of overall interest, not a big deal but happy to update if there are major improvements.

I know many end users mainly in banking that rely on verint vms and require compatibility.  Often the end user specifies the VMS and their camera vendor of choice.
