Undercover ADT On CBS

Ok. This program is a couple years old, but I haven't seen it mentioned here, and if you haven't seen it, its guaranteed to make you chuckle.

It's an episode of Undercover Boss, where an exec, in this case the CMO of ADT, takes various entry-level positions, in disguise, to see how the company really functions first hand. Highlights for me are the first sales call (@ 8 min), the first install (@ 15 min) and the first cold call (@ 28 min).

The former CMO of ADT. According to his LinkedIn profile, he has been Schneider Electric since last year.

Seems like a really good guy. I only watched the first 10 minutes going over his background, once it got to the local ADT door to door salesman, had to turn it off...

According to his LinkedIn profile, he has been Schneider Electric since last year.

Perhaps he had a hand in the Pelco 'Attack your Competitors' campaign.

All reality shows may be fake, but that ADT salesman is 100% real for sure, straight from the gritty streets of Union City, New Jersey.

Best quote from the cold calling ADT guy, "You want to be not SO serious, but serious enough that they know you mean business." Also says only one percent of cold calls do you actually get thru to anyone. I wonder if even one percent of those are sales. 10,000 calls. 1 sale?

Todd Pedersen (CEO of Vivint) did the same show. Not joking: I think one his big takeaways was buying skateboard shoes for installers who do work on roofs.
