Intrusion giant Honeywell has an uncommon feature on their new two-way wireless sensors: Takeover lockout.

From: Lyric SiX Sales sheet:

Honeywell SiX series, which locks a sensor to a particular panel, making takeovers more difficult. Once a wireless sensor is paired to Lyric panel, it will not work with another panel, forcing the takeover company to replace both panel and sensors. [emphasis added]

My initial thoughts are usually 'takeovers' are by dealers who intend on swapping out panels and sensors regardless, so while it's kind of a devious move, I doubt it has much practical effect.

Wireless sensors do not often work with more than one brand anyway, so if a panel cannot be unlocked they are replaced regardless.

Am I wrong?

I was thinking the same thing, its hard to mix and match wireless anyways. But good move by honeywell anyways. Alot of the Wireless honeywell sensors work with 2GIG and vice versa, the ones that work on 345mhz

Alarm industry does things like this and then wonders why so many consumers don't trust them....

I think it depends on how the sale is.  99% of the residential/small commercial (where we could use lyric) systems my company does are leased systems that the customer does not own.  However it is not worth the time to go pull it out at the end if they want to cancel and we wouldn't reuse them anyway.  Why let the next guy get in there cheap and use the equipment the customer didn't buy?

On the other hand if the customer purchased the system outright they should stay unlocked as they own them.

For the cost , outlay of cash upfront , its not worth the time.

If your not going to use all the features , it's not worth the investment.

Usually on takeovers , you want cheep, inexpensive , wireless or like that can be used to convert easily.

with out expense of labor as it has a limited budget.

New Installs have the budget to use, try, expense this type in.

I went to training, learned the in's out', limitation's

Another atempt to wow the industry.

Not enough into system .

I like the competitor s system better.

Ease of programming, Wifi, features, computer Inet program-ability , upload, down load features.
