The Company Never Did Fulfill The Promise Made During The Demo And The Product Was Ripped Out
I was once a team member on a presentation where the primary presenter (from the manufacturer) was rattling on for an hour when the end user finally interrupted and I had been given the opportunity to work with one of the largest energy companies on the east coast who wanted facial recognition access control. After a very extensive search process we were finally selected and were completing the commissioning of the system when the customer asked the manufactures' professional services engineer about one of the features that had been demonstrated during the selection process and was one of the deciding factors. The response of the employee of the company was "oh, you don't want that feature!" Well, yes they did! What followed was an extensive unpacking of the difference between a demo system and a real world system. With the CEO of the product being personally involved for nearly a year. The company never did fulfill the promise made during the demo period and the product was ripped out and we were barred from doing business with them as long as their decision maker was still in charge!
