Testing Operation / Coverage Of 450+ IR Illuminators

I'm looking for some advice here for what is, at least for me, a first-of-its-kind sort of problem. We have a new client that has 450+ cameras with Axis external IR illuminators. The client believes 20-30% of them are either not operational, or have the wrong lens on them and so they are not putting the IR light where it needs to go.

From a good/bad perspective we can easily drive past them and put a camera on them to see if there is any light, simple enough. But to evaluate that the proper lens is on them and the pattern is good/correct? The most obvious answer is to walk test the view area and decide if it's correct, but, I'm wondering if anyone else has ever had this kind of request (and this quantity of devices) and if there's any less-obvious, time-saving method to employ?
