Suggestion For Outdoor AP?

I need a very easy to configure and use outdoor AP. We have some cameras at an entrance to a community, and all the hardware is in a Hanah Enclosure, and cameras on a pole. We just need users to be able to drive up, and access the Wi-Fi so they can get on the camera network. The AP would go on the pole.

We tried using a Ubiquiti Unifi UAP-AC mesh device but it requires the Unifi software to manage. We have never used the Unifi software and do not really have the time to learn it right now. We did manage to add SSID's and thought we had them added to the radio but when we disconnected it from the network and put it on an injector, it never broadcast the SSID.

What happens if we configure a Unifi device in the office, then a tech goes onsite with a laptop to modify configuration? Is there an issue there or does the Unifi software pull the configuration in?

I have never tried the UNIFI APs in offline mode but I do know the switches and routers work. If you're going to use UNIFI I would use a UNIFI router, cloud key, small POE switch and AP.  The cloud key will run the management software and you can access it by hitting the LAN IP of the cloud key.   When we do setups like this we normally use a Cradelpoint or Peplink router with WIFI.

Thanks, there is no remote access here. No Cradlepoint, no internet, etc.

We already have a TS-8 in the enclosure.

Surely there has to be a simpler way to do this, even if we do not use Ubiquiti.

The easy way is to use a Router with WIFI.  Since you already have a TS-8 I would add a cloud key and UNIFI router for DHCP.

I have a very good experience with the EnGenius EnStation outdoor wireless points configured in WDS Bridge mode. The AC model uses standard 48v PoE power, while the older 5 and 3 models use 24v with included injectors.  On one recent installation for the US Fish & Wildlife Service, I've got a total of 24 3MP cameras & 14 single door controllers communicating between 6 separate buildings across a 40-acre campus (only 3 cams & 2 doors are hardwired to the Server).

In WDS Bridge mode, each transceiver is set up to communicate ONLY it's mate by locking the corresponding MAC ID (rejecting all other radios). There is no special software required, although some added management features are available if you choose to use it.

Contact me directly if you'd like to know more.
