SSI Top 75 Market Leaders: "This Is Not In Any Way A Sales Or Marketing Ploy"

Pro tip, don't draw attention to your ploy by telling people in the sales email, it is not a ploy:

Narrator: It is a ploy.

The name sounds serious:

But it in no way finds or tries to evaluate who the 'top 75' actually are.

In defense of SSI, it seems to be a fairly harmless, if pointless, ploy. They release a variety of vertical lists with little to no meaningful information:

And for integrators, they can tell people "Hey we're top 75 on SSI" to which people will invariably respond "Huh?"

Here is the survey for integrators who want to get on the list.

thinly veiled ‘pay for ploy’ scheme...

To be clear, I don't see any indication that any payment is involved, even indirectly.

The ploy is more of a marketing tactic, i.e., magazine puts integrator in a Top list and then integrator markets the magazine by saying "Hey I am in Magazine X's Top list."

my bad, I assumed it was similar to the inc5000.  in that case, I assume the “not a ploy” claim refers to the fact that it’s free to the integrator.

Inc. 5000 does actual revenue verification:

The fee is ~$200 so it's not a major barrier nor real money maker given the work they put into verifying revenue.

The opposite, say whatever you want, which is what our industry does, does not engender much credibility.
