Sprinkler Monitoring - Maryland Question

For all you fire alarm companies with knowledge in Maryland or in general.

We mostly do burglar alarms and we test and maintain about 2 dozen fire alarms but have not installed a fire panel in quite some time.

We currently have a very old burg panel that is monitoring a sprinkler system. The panel is dying and in need of an upgrade and we obviously are not going to put the sprinkler system back on this.

My question is, what are the requirements for this type of system, is it code compliant to just install a 4 zone fire panel to monitor a sprinkler system tamper/flow/supervisory but not a building wide system including pull stations and horn strobes?

Just looking for general knowledge, we have experience and certifications for this its just been some time. Occupancy is under 300.

Rule 1. Ask the AHJ.

Say you are with a competitor if you are embarrassed.

Be prepared to answer what the construction type is, where it is located (what municipality) and the occupancy type.

It could be as simple as being deemed a repair and just change the panel.  Heck, it might not even be required or as a minimum no permit required, when installed or now.

It may never have been permitted with one required when installed and could trigger an entire life safety system installation based on new codes and building occupancy.

When in doubt, refer to Rule 1.

Those guys aren't as scary as people make them out to be when you ask first.
