Looking For Software That Screenshots Feeds At Scheduled Interval To Generate Report

Hi,

I am looking at a reporting type software which takes snapshots of the various feeds at scheduled intervals and then compiles those into a thumbnail report of the feeds.

The intended purpose is to ensure the cameras are indeed online and importantly haven't been tampered with and continue to show a feed of the correct area under surveillance.

I am aware of Viakoo however that doesn't handle images but the underlying data on the device.

Any ideas / suggestions ?

What VMS do you intend using?

That's part of the problem. It is various sites/clients/VMS's. I am looking at a generic tool that can pull the stream, take a snapshot and then add that to a report as a thumbnail.

I am aware that some VMS's have the functionality, however I am looking at a cloud based tool so offer it as a service to clients.

I built something like this a while back using OpenRTSP to grab a segment of video from a camera, and then used ffmpeg to turn that into a series of JPGs. That gets around cameras that don't offer a snapshot URL and gives you a base platform that should work with any IP camera.

LENSEC

Perspective VMS by LENSEC provides several reports that help users and integrators assess camera status. There are several features available, including a cameras snapshots report, a printable report that shows the image snapshot of each camera in the system. This is designed for assessing camera image quality, focus, and field of view. There is also camera status report that shows the current camera status along with support reference information.

Hi!

I'm from Ivideon VSaaS, we have Open API , and there are some tools for taking screenshots and monitoring device status.

Of course, it's better to have more details, but from the first look, you can take our Ivideon server for desktop, add cameras feeds to it and take screenshots and status information using API.

Hi,

I am from 3dEYE cloud platform. You can connect cameras to platform and create camera down alarm notification. As integrator, you will receive daily summary of cameras for all your customers as well. Tampering alarm usually is being provided by camera as well over ONVIF. By using pay as you go plan, you can minimize your cost to avoid per camera license fees.

Otherwise probably simple homemade solution would be to use ffmpeg to generate frames every N seconds:

ffmpeg -i"rtsp://user:pass@url" -filter:v "select=not(mod(n\,15))" -vsync vfr -q:v 2 CameraName%03d.jpg
15 - means to take every 15th frame (so if you have 15 fps stream and want frame every 2 seconds use 30)
-q:v 2 - quality: 2 high, 31 low

Ai-RGUS

If this is still relevant to you, we will be happy to schedule a time to demo the Ai-RGUS solution to you. It does exactly what you are looking for. The report with the thumbnails of the faulty cameras is sent on a schedule that you configure.

Please click here to schedule a meeting at your convenience.

Ai-RGUS is the only software that gives diagnostic information specific to camera systems. It was developed for Duke University to automatically verify that security cameras are “on”, recording, and showing a clear view. Ai-RGUS checks that you have the number of days of recording required by regulation. Ai-RGUS uses Artificial Intelligence to determine if your cameras have problems of blur, block, tilt, glare, or low-light. With this information, you can respond to any issues quickly.

You can click on the link for a short 2 min video about Ai-RGUS YouTube .

One of our clients with 5,000+ cameras issued a press release:

“Manually monitoring each camera is a logistical nightmare. The Ai-RGUS software automatically checks each camera’s health at pre-determined times and alerts our engineers to any issues saving time, money and other resources. The integration is a major benefit to our clients as a camera problem can result in a crime going undetected.”

I hope this helps and looking forward to talking to you!
