Finally, SimpliSafe got caught. However, the new owners of SimpliSafe, Hellman Friedman Advisors, should thank ADT for disclosing the many questionable representations in their multi-media advertising. For reference, see article dated 21 April 2020, in SS&I magazine titled, “BBB Questions Some SimpliSafe Advertising Claims”…. wherein… “…..SimpliSafe’s marketing assertions were examined by a division of the BBB National Programs after certain claims were challenged by ADT….” We believe SimpliSafe/ Hellman Friedman is considering an IPO for their multi-$Billion exit via the public market. Now, this “filter” from inside the industry by ADT, and Better Business Bureau BBB, can provide important guidance that will prevent nasty litigation from deceptive SEC disclosures; and support a successful IPO exit.
