What are the top leading integrators for video surveillance projects related to safe city in the US? Beside installation the video equipment are they also responsible for the network infrastructure such as the fiber optics placement ?

What are the leading safe city shows ?

From a few recent ones I've seen, the integrators are local to the region, not a specific ones.

Here is a recent RFP from New Orleans: City of New Orleans Request for Proposal

Ami,

There are a few that specialize in this.  Motorola Solutions, Total Recall are a couple of nationals that come to mind.  There are also many regional integrators that have large scale citywide projects they manage.  Pref Tech in Houston, ETI in Kansas City, DCI in St. Louis for example.  In some instances these "regional" integrators are deploying fiber, connectivity, wireless mesh and other video and data transportation methods.

As far as the shows...I've only attended regional based shows.  This might be a good topic for a discussion thread.  Ask Sean or John from IPVM.  They might be able to provide some better guidance.

Thanks guys

I wander if such integrators are always responsible for both, the infrastructure deployment (fiber, wireless, etc) and the security equipment, or it some time the job is separated between different integrators each with its own expertise

The last show that I recall was called  Secured Cities, but the last one was in 2016

There is still some information and videos floating around

Paul,

The event organizers just told me that they have taken a 2-yr hiatus with that event, but it could be revamped for 2019. I guess will see next year.

Top or Leading integrators for "safe city" video surveillance projects is not a clear descriptor for any level integrator, but I can address largest.

Jason Glover mentioned 2 of the larger integrators, Motorola Solutions and Total Recall which have a presence in the US. I would add Hitachi Data Systems to the list of larger integrators in this space in the US. Hitachi acquired one of the large pure integrators in that space (Avrio RMS Group) ~5 years ago, who were responsible for some large camera deployments in US cities. I would guess there are well over 100 regional or local integrators tackling smaller tier 2 and 3 cities/counties. I can think of nearly a dozen in New York State alone.

In my experience, both as a direct integrator on some smaller safe cities projects, and in talking to some of the larger integrators, the network infrastructure as far as switches, wireless networking, firewalls, are commonly provided by the integrator. Providing WAN physical infrastructure like fiber optics placement will depend on the municipality, whether or not there is existing infrastructure in place (dark fiber).

I would be only guessing that in the really large systems (5,000+ cameras), the budget may exist to add new fiber-optic infrastructure. In the small to medium-sized systems, I have direct experience with, we utilized existing fiber infrastructure where it existed, or installed high-throughput wireless point-to-point bridges instead of fiber.
