Resources To Help Private School Improve It's Premises Security, Incident Reaction Planning.

I have a son who attends a small private school (K-8) in Southern California. That school is investing in an upgraded premesis security system (fencing, access control, expanded CCTV system, internal incident lockdown technology, etc.) in 2019.  The budget is somewhat meager (~$100k).  As a professional in this industry, I'll help consult in the Access Control / Surveillance areas that I have expertese, but what I'm really after is resources (Government, NGO, Corporate) that can provide pro-bono guidance to schools on best practices, priorities and other resources as they design not just the new system, but also an entirely new incident response program.

Any resources you can point me to would be greatly appreciated.

PASS (The Partner Alliance for Safer Schools) may be helpful.  They include both security industry professionals as well as school administrators and security officials.

Typically you can get with the local police or sheriff's department to get a site security assessment. You can also check with your local ASIS chapter as well. They are more than willing to help you with this especially since this is a school. Below is the link to find an ASIS chapter locally.

Also you local law enforcement most likely wants to be involved in this. The more they know the better they can respond.

I recommend free resources from the Department of Homeland Security. The K-12 School Security guide (2018) is great, as is their self-assessment.

For a hands-on assistance, your local DHS Protective Service Advisor should be able to assist.
