How Do I Make Reader Lights Easier To See From Far Away?

I have a situation where the HID LED is hard to see in the bright sunlight. HID over the years hasn't changed the LED cover location or material on the iclass style readers so the brightness isn't affected by the sunlight either causing the material to turn yellow or have it not directly in the sun.

Anyways is there a device to hook in parallel with the reader LED output on a reader board to follow the LED output voltage to follow the LED color. I know with a transistor and a low current relay I probably could but ideally I would like an out of the box solution. I also want this to be more than just follow the lock output. I could just have the lock output fire a relay that puts voltage to an LED but I need more than that on this issue.
