Looking for getting quotes for our shipment to ISC West and would like to hear about people who have good experience with freight companies.

UPS/Fedex are too expensive for the large crates.

Dori, take this with a grain of salt because I haven't used them for shipping to tradeshows in Vegas, but Conway Freight was always good to work with and reasonably priced for me in a past career shipping large freight (12'-16' Satellite dishes) around the US. I have also reached out to a Tradeshow Events Manager I know to see if they have any more references.

Thank you, it seems this year prices jumped 15% on freight and i'm trying to see if it's only on my end.

Feedback from my contact:

"GES and Freeman were usually my go-to's in Vegas. Depending on how big the shipment is, they can come right into the exhibit hall and break everything down for you and get it shipped out. Legacy and Old Dominion might be more reasonable though"

In the past, not only for ISC West but the probably 100+ shows I've shipped stuff to in the last 20 years, the company that handled our booth shipping would also handle the shipping for in-booth equipment and other stuff we supplied separately.

If you do not have any association with a freight company, I would have a look at uShip, and get some quotes there. Be sure to check for insurance, etc., make sure they have the right kind of truck for both pickup and dropoff.

It could be worth calling a couple of local companies that handle expo-related things like booth design and rental and see if they have a recommended carrier. If they have clients at ISC West, you might also be able to tag onto one of their trucks a bit cheaper than sending your own.

Overall, ISC West/Sands Expo is one of the easier shows to manage in terms of freight. They have been pretty reasonable with prices overall (everyone is going to pay the same rates from the loading door to the booth, can't really get around that).

No recommendations on who to use, but I can certainly tell you one to avoid - YRC Freight.  Numerous incidents with distributors using these to ship to us... I'm guessing they are inexpensive.  Check the BBB and other reviews on this one.

I can't help you on the freight company but I will give you this heads up since it sounds like this may be your first ISC  show.

you should be aware that it may cost you about as much to get it the 1,500 feet from the loading dock to your booth space as it did to ship it across country...

I've been told that by several vendors in years past so you may want to prepare yourself.

This isn't my first rodeo and i'm aware of the freeman charge which is usually ridiculous numbers.

It's just that the freight numbers are so random that one company can quote you $800 and the other $2500 for the exact same shipment.

LTL shipments can be highly variable in pricing.
