Real World Search Scenarios

We're working on designing a video search interface and are interested in hearing from everyone on real world search needs so we can build the best product possible. For example, it seems many products have a start and end date and time, but does that really make sense? or would selecting an approximate event date/time and a time window be a little easier? On the other hand, smart search seems to be a quick and intuitive way to handle the case where an item has disappeared, what about other use cases, how would you like to be able to find the appropriate video?

Thanks in advance!
