I'm doing a demo this afternoon, and I need to take a UPS with me, which has big honkin' batteries. Will TSA let me carry it on? This is the one I have.

You can take sealed lead acid batteries on a plane either in carry on or checked luggage. See this chart from the FAA.

If you're flying internationally, it may vary. China threw out a couple of USB battery packs of mine. They don't like batteries no matter what, apparently.

Sounds like somebody was on a power trip.

I also looked in to this recently, and a sealed lead acid battery can be transported on passenger flights. Just remember to disconnect the battery first.

"Can I Take a UPS on a Plane?"

I thought this was going to be the start of an updated version of a Dr. Seuss book.
