Questions About DSX

A client has a legacy DSX access system and is considering upgrade / replacement.

I read the commentary on this site from 2014 reviewing DSX. Biggest issues at that time were lack of native IP interface, weak video integrations (e.g. live view only), and apparently antiquated software user experience. (Also, the fact that controllers are proprietary, which won't change. )

Are these still issues or has there been a significant upgrade in the last several years? I read on other discussions here in 2017 that a new interface was due out. If there have been upgraded to address these issues, is the upgrade path a major undertaking - as in, swapping out old panels for new? Tnx.
