PSIM Trends - Is The Market Dying - If No PSIM, What Next?

Hi Guys,

Not everybody's favourite subject I realise, but I'm trying to better understand the PSIM trends globally.

My gut feeling is:-

Systems are generally procured by Government, Military and Blue chip organisations?

Growth market - Middle East

Steady market - USA

Plateud / Declining Market -UK

I would be interested in hearing anybody's views on this. Decent figures are hard to come by, and very few companies play successfully in this space.

I would also be keen to hear your view on what happens next - if no PSIM then what?

Dan, good topic, I don't see it dying. It will just remain a niche. The good news is that the VMS and access control companies continue to push upward adding in more PSIM capabilities of their own.

Btw, I also agree with you regional breakdown, PSIM from what I see remains most popular in the Middle East.

I believe this market will remain steady in the US but will remain a niche marketed product. I work with VidSys (Baltimore City) and the Capital Shield (DC) systems through several of my end user clients. They are using these systems as a dash board to tie in multiple manufacturer's systems. The city's offer tax incentives to these end users to get access to there camera feeds (usually exterior cameras only).

This is normally limited to live views only as the end user will normally not give video to the municipality without a subpoena.

These systems are slow to be added too but the growth is consistent.

Ive seen the reports from DC that mainly residents are installing cameras based on that tax incentive program. Are these systems all being tied into the PSIM?

I can only respond to what I have seen on the Commercial side of the things. To my knowledge, Capitol Shield integration is apart of the tax incentive process.

What's next it's SaaS and VSaaS in my opinion and it's already clearly well inside the field of view/horizon.  PSIM has and continues to prove "hard" for most users to utilize and manage in a way that delivers ongoing benefits to them for the business case that was used to justify the initial acquisition and implementation costs.  The benefits are tangible and worthwhile when achieved/realized but the ongoing technology and product evolution required for them to do so means there are now higher than anticipate ongoing costs.  Additionally, there are other trends related to the benefits of transitioning from fixed system acquisition, maintenance and operation to the "As A Service" models that SaaS and VSaaS offer that drive my belief and conclusion that the future is in that direction as opposed to merely the convergence and integration of the Physical and Logical Security Systems users have in place today for their enterprises.
