Pragma And Dogma In Our Industry

I'm seeing a trend that Dahua users aren't drinking any Kool-aid. I don't think our manufacturer even offers us that much of it in terms of trying to "brand" our mindset, so to speak.

We're more of a "use what works" crowd and we're painfully aware of the flaws of our products when things do come up (hopefully not too often). We adapt our products to the situation and rely on our skills as integrators (or distributors in my case), rather than play on some kind of massive market share. This is obviously true of the crowd that sells multiple brands, but I find it true in most cases of Dahua houses that we are typically flexible in our product selection.

I think we're less product evangelists and more realists. Not bashing anyone, of course. It seems some companies invest more effort to raise enthusiasm for their products than others and sometimes it really does effectively shape those mindsets. In other cases, the mindset is probably adopted for the sake of effectively selling the product.

Personally, I wonder, how many people are sold completely on their product line compared to how many people are truly fluid depending on the situation (not just when they are forced to be).

What are the community's thoughts?

‘You don’t need to see’ this then:

Yeah, but that's just hyping by video, which can be ignored. Dealers and distributors typically need to be reminded that those even exist. Grand trips to China, now those are fancy.

Edit: Now that I've seen the video - I see firmware updates...lots and lots of firmware updates. And no feedback with R&D.

Yeah, but you did complain:

Complaining and commenting are two very different things. Plus, that really needed to be shorter and to the point...and maybe less pro-Skynet and surveillance state oriented...
