Poor Speco Releases Dumb Nest Commercial

Here it is:

There are various headscratchers but, to start, why are they comparing themselves to Nest? And what thief is making a decision on whether or not he can knock the camera out? The camera has already recorded him / his face, and is Nest's case has sent it to the cloud.

What do you think?

Why wouldn't that guy just pull up to the side of the building and pull the Nest down by the exposed cable? That would've proved their point better.

If a Cadillac-driving package thief attacks cameras using a Harbor Freight penny-nail claw hammer, he deserves to go to jail just for that.

They could have used a guy with a mask over their face like another manufacturer did.

guy with a mask over their face

But then no manufacturer can ID the attacker, right? would defeat their purpose of claiming they are better?

Exactly my point.  Hey, buy this and let me show you how easy it is to make it a useless spend.

Did they stop selling spray paint? I'd be painting them instead of hammering them...

Dahuas you don't need to know video or dumb nest comparison video.

Which one is dumber.

I have no idea how a video like that makes it through so many levels of the marketing department

Nest and Ring aren't terrible products.  I find both get ludicrously expensive if you plan to store things for more than a week, but the cloud interfaces work really well.  That said, I have a personal story as to what makes them fail as security devices.  I have a Ring doorbell that also sees where I park.  It faithfully notifies me when I pull up, or go to get something from my car.  I never installed cameras on my home because I live in a really nice area with virtually no crime, until the day someone broke into my car and 7 others in the neighborhood.  I did have the Ring, and when the cops came I gleefully pulled up my app to show them the perps, only to find that my internet had been out for 3 hours during the night which happened to directly coincide with the event.  I have cameras now, and good story for people who wish to use these products for security.  That would have been a way better direction for any ad in my opinion.
