Peter Goldring Finds Error In IPVM Integrator Finder, IPVM Fixes, Update: Goldring Declares IPVM Founder "Hoax, A Fraud And A Charlatan"
This morning, Peter Goldring emailed us the following, copied verbatim:
Post this in its entirety (that means the whole email, not the parts you pick).
IPVM’s Integrator Finder under the tools tab on the website lists 3,074 entries. ADR Security is listed as a paying member, with a “certificate”. ADR hasn’t paid in years and the company has never taken any “IPVM training” and never received any “certificates”. No one at ADR ever requested to be listed on the finder.
Please explain this misleading discrepancy and how the integrator finder is populated. Does an installing company request it? What about the companies that are neither members nor “certified”? Of IPVM’s alleged “15,000 paying members”, 11,926 aren’t installing companies and don’t want to be listed? Doesn’t make sense.

For background on Goldring, Peter Goldring: "Hono-The-Clown Is Well Known Among The People Who Lead The Industry. I'm Just The One Who Plans To Make IPVM Go Away."
The Integrator Finder was released in 2015 (see announcement), has near negligible usage, and has not been properly maintained for years. That said, the errors in the listing are entirely our fault and we have promptly removed the subscriber and certification displays to rectify that.
To answer Peter's specific questions:
- The ADR discrepancy is because we have not properly maintained / updated the integrator finder. For the certified person listed, the best I can tell is that it was a manual admin error. We do maintain a list of names of most but not all IPVM Certified Professionals here.
- 90%+ of the integrator finder listings were added in 2015 / 2016 and very few since.
- In 2015 / 2016, we manually added many integrators. Some others have requested to be added and we have added some from time to time.
- There are far more than 3,074 integrators around the world. The Integrator Finder does not come close to comprehensively listing integrators. Of course, many integrators have multiple subscribers to IPVM. And then there are various other people who pay to subscribe to IPVM who are not integrators.
I have agreed to the audit and I am awaiting Goldring to actually pay for a credential auditor to start. We take responsibility for any errors and we answer directly to criticism publicly as we have done here.

While we do not normally discuss subscriber status, since Goldring made this a public request, I can confirm we did as he requested.
I do not know what, if anything, will come next with Goldring but this is the resolution, per his request, for now.

How many people here get more than $1 or more than their membership worth from using the tools, research, discussions, etc. The fact that he thinks so little of the site, and that he thinks that the large trade orgs, which don't have any tools, discussions, or other features is laughable. There are no other sites for our industry to have these discussions, collections of tools, etc. There are consumer oriented sites all about blue iris or how to load firmware to grey market cameras, but that is it.
The fact that he is posting so much to these articles... I guess he is trying to get a discount for next year - maybe he can't afford the membership...

The simple implication of infiltration among his potential clients would be enough to drive paranoia for a while... but I won't say I approve since we don't need to waste energy on someone like Goldring. We already won with words alone, so he's neither a threat nor competition.
Let's not invite further strife when there are more pressing issues to address, like supply chain interruptions and security holes from legacy and lax practices.
Edit: Oh, and China... That's a much bigger problem that's still on the radar.
Maybe someone should pretend to be a client and get Peter engaged. Let's see how it works.

I think everyone needs to stop. Everyone. Let Peter have the last word if he wants- it's not going to make any difference. The pathology of behavior can be contagious and easily spin both ways. Best thing to do is stop the cycle and just disengage.

Btw, I'm going where the money is (cybersecurity). It's why I'm chugging through certifications to fly this chicken coop. Supply chain issues in surveillance aren't something I want to deal with while this mess with manufacturing gets sorted out.
I still support my customers who contact me for advice and technical assistance in the surveillance industry regularly though, so have fun believing what you want.
