Well, probably more than half the industry uses #12 as a default, so I guess we're screwed. <a href="/report/ip_cameras_default_passwords_directory" target="_blank">According to a previous poll</a>, more than half of our members say they never use default passwords, so that's some reassurance I guess?

Are your cameras capable of using passwords this long? I've seen cameras that could not handle 123456789 as a password because that's longer than 7 characters. Does your VMS insist you use (strange/weak/default/short/cleartext) passwords for the cameras it connects to? I do hacker lectures for ASIS and related audiences and too too many of these people find it disturbing that I suggest four character numeric passwords are perhaps too weak.
