Now At ADI, Hikvision HD Camera Under $30

In this week's episode of the race to the bottom, another new low. So much for $100 or even $50 HD cameras.

Now, we have this:

Considering it is an outdoor camera with IR, that's pretty amazing.

Of course, it is HD analog (TVI), not IP. You might be wondering where you will get a recorder for this.

How about an 8 channel, 2TB one for less than $200:

All combined, an 8 channel turnkey HD system for $414.

Or you could buy a single Axis 720p integrated IR dome....

Interestingly, even though Hikvision has been offering TVI for around 2 years, they have typically emphasized IP over TVI. We'll see if this is a sign in a shift in that approach but we do think that the low end dealer will be very attracted to both the pricing and simplicity of an HD analog solution.

Hik certainly has an interesting strategy for North America.

Drop prices on commodity items to unprecedented levels for little apparent reason and deny high-end software (iVms 5200) AND high-end hardware (12 MP cameras, 4K PTZ) for less reason, at the same time.

Also, only in N.A. do Hik and EZVIZ act like unrelated companies.

Its insulting.

Is Hikvision discounting these, or is ADI promoting a loss leader and taking a bath as a promotion cost?

I am asking because my assumption is that ADI is doing this to move them/promote themselves as a low-price distributor for Hikvision cameras.

I checked around, and no other source is promoting a similar deal on these cameras. I'm just not sure if this promo is all HV, all ADI, or a mix of both.

Knowing ADI, I doubt they are eating the discount and promoting it in their flyer. My understanding is the opposite - getting prime position in their monthly flyer requires the manufacturer to pay.

"my assumption is that ADI is doing this to move them/promote themselves as a low-price distributor for Hikvision cameras."

Why? Then they would just do it for their own brands, like W Box or Honeywell.

I wonder then if ADI pays less for branded Hiks than unbranded ones.
