Non-Chinese HD Analog Encoder Options

A member asked the other day about non-Chinese HD analog encoder options.

HD analog encoders are limited, with Hikvision and Dahua more focused on HD analog DVRs with less attractive encoder options.

The benefit of HD analog encoders is to integrate with 3rd party VMS systems. For background see: Testing Dahua HDCVI Encoder With VMSes and HD Analog DVRs With Exacq, Milestone and Genetec VMSes Tested.

The following is a list of other HD analog encoders:

Geovision has (2) HD analog encoders, both 4 channels, one for AHD and another for TVI. They are both small form factor unlike the HD analog encoders so far from Dahua and Hikvision. ONVIF support is planned for 'early Q2 2017'. Estimated street pricing ~$300.

Also 8 channel versions are planned for Q1 2017 release and 16 channel ones in Q3 2017.

In addition to upcoming ONVIF support, they will (not surprisingly) work with Geovision's own VMS.

Any other HD analog encoders, let us know and we'll add.

GeoVision is not a name I hear much anymore. How are they doing with all the price presser from Hik and Dahua?

Geovision's revenue is down ~8% for the first 3 quarters this year, on target for $60 - $65 million USD 2016 revenue. All things considered not horrible given Dahua and Hikvision's aggressive expansion / price cuts.

well time to order a test unit and do some testing. if it works good and basic ONVIF support happens I may very well push Geovisons sales up to be notable again.

not so mention Samwha Technet HD analog cameras are going to be hard to come by.

So many projects right now that could be upgraded to IP with full HD cameras for an enterprise system at budget even if all it does is stream full HD video via ONVIF compatibility.

and they are Taiwanese if i am not mistaken. that means is should make the chi-comms angrier than that phone call from Trump the other day.

Why? Can you elaborate?

I have a ton projects that are no deals due to cost in changing out from coax to Category cable. if all I have to is swap one camera out and mount HD encoders on the other end, the numbers of jobs that will be approved will be insane.

I wont be buying by the job I will asking how many HD analog cameras do they have in stock and and how much they want for their entire stock.

just an example

SDC-9441BC ~$70-80

4 channel encoder ~$300

total parts about $650 + labor to upgrade 4 cameras to HD analog (~$163 per camera + labor ) and get them IP addressable with ONVIF compatibility.

and its not owned by the Chinese government is the cherry on top.

Eddie, why do you need an encoder for such low camera count jobs? Can't you use a HD dvr here, or is this just 4 cameras out of a bigger number that are streaming to a third party VMS?

its the later I am building a rather big and robust enterprise system ( I work for the government) so being able to have that makes taking existing analog cameras and tying them in rather cheaply even if i have to fat finger in ONVIF stream paths.

my main issue is just getting a stream from the camera to a network, after that as other building go though renovations I can have the infrastructure upgraded for IP cameras.

having 400 DVRs to keep up with and take care of is main headache now I dont want shinier new problems right now.

Oh, ok I thought it was a bunch of unrelated small systems.

For a large site, one idea would be to use an Exar HD Analog Capture Card and build your own encoder/recorders.

Related what are the non-Chinese Analog HD options, encoders or not?

Samsung, DW, ??

DW uses Acti, which is Taiwanese, so that depends on perspective.

Then again, based on the comments here and Trump, I guess we're separating them.

Personally, I think that might be one of the few things he's potentially doing right...just not in the most tactful manner.

Not exactly, the encoder you are referring to is a standard definition device, which is not relevant to our HD over Coax solutions. It acts as an easy method for onboarding existing standard definition devices to the easiest video management solution on the planet - DW Spectrum.

Currently, we provide a Universal HD over Coax DVR that is capable of AHD, TVI, CVI and standard analog. We marketed this device as the VMaxA1 (A1 = All in One, Universal HD over Coax). This device is Korean in origin.

At the moment this device also is not relevant to this encoder discussion either but we look forward to sharing news that may be relevant here as soon as it become available.

If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call.

Thanks,

Patrick

I've heard it was decent but I did not know it was actually the easiest on the planet. You should be proud :)

Why not decide for yourself?  DW offers a free test drive.  Disclosure: I am a DW Rep.

Team IPVM, do you mind if I post a download link to the DW Spectrum software?

I should have added full disclosure that I work for Digital Watchdog (DW).

I am remove this from above. I did not see this before but that claim crosses the line. I am fine with vendors recommending their product when it fits and with facts but puffery like that is not allowed.

To #2's question a link to download is fine. We have a directory of free VMS links here.
