FLIR Vu Camera For Drones - Practical Uses?

Saw this announcement from FLIR today about a new Vu camera for drones that does temperature measurement.

Seems cool, but also pricey at $3000. The price makes me think it puts it squarely in the "for commercial use" category, which is still fairly restricted in the US. It looks like the FAA has issued 5,100 exception permits, which seems like a pretty small market (though likely to grow).

Are there many primary non-commercial/private uses for something like this?

Curious if any of the drone aficionados here plan to get one of these or see a big market for it.
