Need A Recommendation For A Dome With A Good Defog Capability

Need a recommendation for a dome with a good defog capability. Willing to consider most brands, but prefer Hikvision, Axis, or Hanwha.

I have a greenhouse environment where we need to install two domes. There will be active mist in the air. We need a dome that can handle that environment as best as possible.

The Hanwha X series seems like a good start, but was hoping for real world confirmation of the defog features ability.

Hanwha's X-series uses "defogging algorithms", aka software magic. It obviously can't physically remove the actual fog, but it can slightly clear-up the image with some software magic. It works better than a standard camera. Hanwha has a white paper here.

Perhaps an old-fashioned body camera/lens combo in a housing with a windshield wiper would be best?

I’m looking for defog capabilities, not a dome enclosure. Defog means the images are digitally improved by software in the camera to remove the impacts of fog. I’m looking for advice from people who have used this particular feature with success.

JD, we have not done such a test but we have some cameras that claim that capability. I wonder if we could do a controlled test with a fog machine...

I think a fog machine would be a good analog for real fog. Would be very interested in this test.

We will queue it up but no guarantees on specific timing of doing the test.

Btw, was searching for demos of claimed performance. Here is a recent Hikvision defog demo:

Saw that one. I would greatly value IPVM testing or member anecdotes over manufacturers demo videos or marketing info. I’ve seen a few marketing videos and whitepapers, but that doesn’t always translate to real world results. That’s where your tests would be much more valuable to me.
