have a local sports complex with five large light poles, they have arecont omni 360 cameras installed. was trying to use cisco wireless ap's. however due to the distance and obstructions they have had no luck. so they ran multi mode fiber from each pole to the head in.what are my options at the head in is their any kind of a fiber switch i can use to get connected to the nvr? or am i going to have to use multiple media converters at each end

I got you my man.

Yes there are many Fiber Switches you have access to. However, just trust me when i say, no one gets fired for buying Cisco. I have seen multiple times as an installer my sales team getting dropped for installing a Dell etc over a Cisco and it failing. If the Cisco fails you can say, well it was a Cisco switch and there is no rebuttal.

Once you select which switch you want you will need to buy the appropriate amount of SFP/Gbics for each input. A fiber switch has a bunch of module ports with no modules included so you have to work that into the price.

Once you have that in place you will have the option to connect that switch with the remaining camera's by linking switches via fiber or Ethernet through the management ports.

Here is just a couple of recommendations (I dont know how many cameras you have)

There are some listed that are not Fiber switches but are very noticeable in differences. This will at least give you a price range.

Not sure how many fiber runs you have but UBNT has a 12 port and 16 port fiber switch with 4 copper ports. The 12 port unit is under $300

Here is a popular security focused brand and option, IFS.

This Fiber Switch is cost effective and can easily support future adds and act as a core switch for your security network.

Includes 10Gb ports, so if you have allot more of those BW intensive Arecont Cameras. Run 10Gb from Switch to NVR/Server and bypass the need for Port Aggregation.
