"Motion" Project -- Software Project On Github

Has anyone worked with or assessed the software at the motion project at Motion

Motion is a highly configurable program that monitors video signals from many types of cameras.

With motion installed on my Linux based laptop, I was able to feed the software an MP4 file where it would then detect motions and surround them with red boxes.

The design of the software looks very mature and well conceived. I haven't tested it or determined interesting statistics like load, just did a proof that it does what it claims it does. I'm wondering if I'm alone here assessing its capability.

(I also have been trying out moonfire-nvr at GitHub - scottlamb/moonfire-nvr: Moonfire NVR, a security camera network video recorder which is the product of a Google engineer and also appears to be mature and well-executed.)
