Mobile Video Solutions

I am looking for a mobile video solution (with an option for audio, interface to allow display of vehicle controls, braking, lights, etc.) for trucks, buses and possibly even law enforcement. Any feedback on what systems you have found work well, easy for the users, etc. I would be especially interested in solutions that federate into larger systems for video data management (long term storage).

You want to integrate the vehicle control readouts/ dashboard displays for mass transit vehicles into a VMS platform?

Or do you want to integrate security video on transit carriers into a VMS platform?

Seon and REI. This are probably the best and preferred in the bus industry. Connects to lighting, gps, and acceleration. Video and event offloads and storage. Last I knew, REI was the preferred product. They have advanced drive cage technology with delayed start heating and vibration control.

I looked at getting into this sector awhile ago. Low margins, even though the bus providers that normally equip (bluebird) would probably be of little help programmming and setting up wireless/servers.

The company I work for, Seneca , has several mobile-rugged units with a variety of capabilities. Axis was using one of them in their 'police looking car' not long ago.

I have tested them in our thermal chamber and they can run at 100% up to around 45C.

Do not confuse that lower value with the vendor specs of up to 70C...because their mark means the machine is simply 'on'...but we know at those temps the system is heavily throttling and the internal parts are clearly at even a higher temp which shortens their lifetime.

Our mark is when the internals are 70C or the system starts throttling..whichever comes first.

Unfortunately, marketing has not condensed the wide assortment we have into a landing page on our web site (I prodded them about it today).

The Federated part is more of a VMS software question where it would have to support a system that can access the 'main storage' from a variety of physical locations. I know Genetec has this capability.
