First time to a MIPS conference...I'm actually looking forward to it.  I'm a techie end user/customer who actually uses all 3 horses (Milestone, Axis, and Briefcam), so it will be interesting to see how they present each solution as all 3 are here.

Besides that, if anyone has any particular questions...I can try and research them or ask around.  Or if you've been to MIPS before and have any thoughts or stories, I'd be more than happy to listen.

Here we go....

Does Milestone still charge to attend MIPS? If so, what's the cost.

$699...if I remember right, but that includes all of your meals too (except Tuesday night). Hotel and flight are your nickel as well of course.

I hate to pry but this is fascinating...  I'm interested in getting your feedback after the event.  Specifically, if the $2,000 (hotel, flights, meal, etc.) was a good investment and if so what stood out as being the most beneficial moment(s)?   Milestone has historically pushed their sales folks hard to drive people to this fee-based annual event.  One might argue (to Milestone's credit) the "success" of this event is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

0 chance they make money off these event fees. They are very expensive to put on, between hotel costs and all the Milestone people who attend.

I am sure it's significantly net positive for them but that's from the business done etc. via it, not from the fees charged.

I’m well aware of the cost of these events. I give Milestone credit for getting people to pay, it allows them to properly brand the venue, invite more people, and create more momentum (when you see 200+ people at the event) in addition to the networking benefits of a larger crowd.  For the record, I’m 👍 with regards to making attendees pay to play.

Having attended this event (as a vendor) on several occasions, I would say it is a typical of a partner event - get your vendors and customers to pay for a pep rally and awards banquet.  I have found the Axis partner event to be slightly better  because of the workshops and roadmap preview.  For vendors it is the cost of doing business/necessary evil.  For customers it is an excuse to party IMO.

Pre-registration for MIPS is $199 and is open right now for MIPS 2020.  After the pre-registration time period ends, then early bird pricing is $299.  When the early bird period ends, the normal registration price is $599.

I have not touched Milestone in a few years. I decided to plop it onto a VM just the other day using a fully patched windows 10 clean install.

Loaded Xprotect Essentials 2019, my question that you can ask Milestone is...

Why is there install so clunky? I like the product but please fix that horrendous installer package.

Why is it clunky? well it kicked out my first install so I hit their forums and good grief...so many modular errors just on the initial install and thread after thread of failure (this can be a good thing).

Perhaps when the install fails the software can automatically redirect your web browser to the forum page (lol). I am not angry, I face just as much CLUNK with Linux packages, docker, apache but Milestone, what's up?
