Maximum Distance To Identify Faces With PTZs?

Need your advice, We want to cover a perimeter area by PTZ/speed dome IP cameras, but client requirement is to recognize the face of an person in perimeter area. it's an long perimeter, in that case what will be distance between cameras??? client want to use these images as evidance/witness purpose to identify the intruder in court.
