I had a customer a year or so ago have an issue with a maglock that used an integrated DPS, specifically one of the Securitron M62 models. One day, their door stayed in a "locked" state, and after troubleshooting (thinking it was the reader not reading credentials correctly, something wrong with schedules, insufficient privileges, etc.), I noticed that the door was saying it was "unlocked", while it was very much physically locked, and the system never received the "locked" door status, so after ~30 seconds, the magnet would re-engage and lock. Obviously, this meant that REX and card reads wouldn't open the door, even though they were valid attempts.
Checked for a DPS, and didn't see one, but then it dawned on me that the DPS was integrated into the maglock. Long story short, bought a new lock and the issue was resolved. Now, we had to wait a few days to get the maglock in and then get the customer situated (jerry-rigged it to have a "closed-door" status all the time at the controller). I recommended at some point running wire and installing a separate DPS, but they didn't care since the issue was, after my service, "fixed".
So to answer my own question, I hate maglocks with integrated DPS's. Would like to hear if other's share my sentiment, or if you've had success/no issues with maglocks with DPS's.
