using a computer with windows 10. I am unable to connect to the live view of the NVR (Northern) it will prompt me to download the web component and when I do so, still does not work and will not prompt me to RUN, same when trying to connect to the camera. I have tried running it as admin and restarting the computer. I have been told that Chrome is incompatible and also some versions of IE. Any advice?

Chances are that it's probably still using the NPAPI plugin.

Chrome has discontinued support for this. Firefox will stop all support as of the start of next year. Edge does not support it at all.

A work around is that you can still use IE in Win10 to run it.

Open the Run prompt with Windows + R then type in iexplore and hit enter.

This will start IE rather than edge and you should be able to get around most of your issues. If you're still having dramas, run the page in Compatibility mode to see if that helps.

Check this folder contents does indeed have the installed ActiveX part

Possibly as often can be case, older version installed fail to run.

C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files

From using IE browser, press F12, and click on console, it could be there might be errors where you can find some answers.

Good luck.
