Hi everyone,

For some specific surveillance project we need to provide a very big lens, that can be used with a box camera.

I found no article on IPVM about that, I check the computar website, and can find no solution with manual lens, only with motorized ones.

Here is the catagory : Computar - Megapixel Zoom Lenses

Have you ever tried 10-350mm lens ? Or 12,5-775mm ?

After checking this discussion () I was also having a look to photo lens like this one Testing EF Lenses on IP Cameras

Any details I should check before selection from your point of view ?

Thanks !

Check the camera image sensor size and make sure the lens matches.  Go with a reputable name for the lens.

What is the geometry of you application? Camera mounting height? Target distance? Required horizontal field of view at target distance? Required pixels per foot at target distance? Acceptable dead zone distance under camera? These questions should be answered first.

Hello Decoux,

Infiniti Electro-Optics offers a range of large lenses such as 500mm, 1000mm, and even a 5000mm. They are typically built into our PTZs, but we may be able to offer something for your application. If you're interested please send me an e-mail: jroutley@infinitioptics.com

I've had good luck with Fujinon lenses, but never used anything above 50mm.

Thanks for all these informations !

I asked my customer more details, I think my option are to move on :

1. Special IPC with camera lens (like Avigilon HD Pro)

2. Common IPC with Fujinon, Theia, Ganz or Computar (will surely select motorized lens cause not sure the focus is easy to handle on such device)

3. All in one camera like the one from Infiniti, or Kedacom

I will keep you updated, and let you know if project was confirmed or not (providing some image of our tests might be useful to others).
