Looking For A Camera To Capture The Sky

Hi,

 

I have a customer that is looking for a 180-degree camera that is weather-proof and fog resistant that can capture the sky. It will be mainly the clouds but the sun will be in the image for a part of the day. Will there be a camera that will work for this customer or will the sun fry the image sensor?

 

I have been reading that cameras that allow long exposures of the sun on the sensor will ruin it.

Curious: why are they looking at the sky?

I have seen cameras damaged by direct sunlight, but not in some time, come to think of it. CMOS may be less prone to damage than CCDs were maybe.

We had this requirement for a skydiving facility to watch the drop zone.
