We are trying to use a Linksys WRT54 (yes I know old model) behind a Comcast router. When we set up DynDNS in the linksys router, we put in the host, password etc, and when we update it says successful.
But the Linksys router is reporting the address the comcast router gave it (or the static IP we assigned), an internal IP address. Is there anyway to get this to report the public IP address?
If I go to DynDNS account from a PC on that network, and update IP, it pulls the public IP address and all remote access works fine. We just have not had any up long enough to see if the IP address changes and we loose remote access.
EDIT so it seems there is no way this is going to work unless we bridge the Comcast router, which makes things a lot more complicated. The Comcast router manages the office network.
Is there a better way to do this? We prefer to use DynDNS so we have the domain name, etc but do we just need to go to P2P? ugh
