Yes, they are a manufacturer. I asked one of their senior managers to give an update on their recent progress since I am out of date with their most recent events as well. He said he would post in the morning.

LILIN is indeed very much a manufacturer, we have been developing and manufacturing video surveillance products since 1980 and have been recognised with a few world’s firsts including; the 1st ONVIF camera to be certified and ship, the 1st appliance based NVR and the 1st 120fps camera.

Based in Taiwan we have been operating globally since the mid 90’s with subsidiary operations around the world – our Los Angeles office was established in 1996. The Company is still privately owned by it’s founder Mr. C.C.Hsu and our corporate video can be found here.

We have evolved our strategy to focus on integration. One of the unique differentiators for LILIN is that all our cameras use the same base firmware, SDK and API - so integrating one LILIN camera unlocks compatibility with them all. This is the same for our recording platforms; the same SDK for both appliance based NVRs, video decoders and our Navigator VMS platform. Not only does this make LILIN much easier to integrate and hence reduce driver development time but also protects integrations going forward as this policy will be continued for all future camera developments. When we release a new camera it is backwards compatible, when we release a new firmware it won't break the integration.

The stability of integration and our approach to delivering the deepest integration possible with our technology partners has led to us becoming a leading brand in the Home Automation market as reported on IPVM here and on CEPro.

From there we have moved into the Unified Communications/IP Telephony markets where our SIP compliant cameras and video door station enable us to deliver some unique solutions on the back of deep integration.

In Asia we are delivering large infrastructure projects such as Bangladesh City Surveillance where we provide complete product solutions working closely with local integrators.

We have recently started to move into the marine channel with our first 316 Grade Stainless Steel IR dome.

There is also a successful OEM/ODM division supporting manufacturing partners around the world.

Members of IPVM will be very much aware of the competition that exists in the Video Surveillance market and the increasing pressure on price reductions, it has never been a core strategy for LILIN to win on price alone; we are agile, we have all R&D resources in-house, an extremely efficient production process and a long history of delivery high video quality, we choose to identify markets that value those strengths.

Clearly LILIN are not as well known in the US as some of our peers, we have been at ISC West every year for nearly 3 decades and will be there again in April, we have had a continuous presence in Los Angeles all that time where our 20 strong team strive to support the channel to the very highest standards. We do have a limited channel; we are not over-distributed and control on-line pricing.

If anyone would like further information I am very happy to assist, you can also find details of our products on our main website at www.meritlilin.com or visit us at ISC West booth 4103.
