Large Axis SIP Video Intercom Deployments

If you have to deploy many Axis SIP video intercoms how are you managing them? Far as I know Axis doesn't make an "intercom/SIP server" to manage multiple intercoms on a system.  Are you running them all through your VMS or using a SIP server?  If using a SIP server are you using the customers current system or deploying a dedicated SIP server just for the intercom system?

Some feedback from Axis:

The AXIS A8004-VE and AXIS A8105-E are Avaya certified (IP Office and Aura) and support other PBX systems from Cisco, Asterisk, 3CX, Shoretel/Mitel and many more.

2N has integrated both door stations into their hosted PBX platform called My2N. This solution works with the 2Ns own SIP based mobile app.

One of the major benefits with Axis door stations is that they can simultaneously be connected to a VMS using Vapix for video surveillance and security as well as to a PBX using SIP to be a part of the VoIP system.

Our door stations are integrated to both of our own VMS, Axis Camera Station and Axis Companion, using VAPIX where we activate the audio channel of the product. This is the integration which most of our VMS partners did.

why are you managing them.  They're SIP.  They're phones.  Aren't they tied to the phone system?

Perhaps my answer doesn't belong here, I don't think our deployment meets your specs.

Our deployment is  small with the expectation to grow, we are running the stations through Genetec Security Center VMS using the Genetec Sipelia server for workstation <> door station calls and also straight into the VMS for additional camera monitoring.

We just completed a large parking garage with Talk-A-Phone SIP units (24 units) interfaced to Genetec.  Customer loves it.  It was a one to one replacement of existing analog call for aid stations and they already were using Genetec Security Center.  We just added Sipelia (and IP SIP stations),  Axis would have worked the same - just not the same construction as the Talk-A-Phone units for this purpose.  Check out www.brekeke.com/ for building your own system.  Or, as suggested above - work with customer's telephone vendor in bringing these SIP end-points into their system (at a cost of course), or work with a solution such as Genetec that has basically repurposed a Brekeke type product within Security Center with additional features, IMO.

All deployments we have done have not used a SIP server but have integrated with an Avaya IPOffice or Cisco phone system.  They have been rock solid with no issues.  At the end of the day, as long as you have 3rd party SIP licensing for your phone system they should work the same as any SIP device.

We use the Grandstream PBX, it's very simple to setup and has no licensing fees. We have found customers don't want to put the intercoms and phones on their VoIP platform, I'm okay with that, easier to troubleshoot without needing to involve an IT department.

I'm just going to throw out there that I got an A8105-E to test awhile back and absolutely love it. I'm actually going to install one on my house and use it instead of the garbage Ring/Skybell products that are out there.

I have on my front door.  With Axis Camera Companion you get Ring like features when someone presses the button you can receive the call on your phone.  I also have an email sent to the image.   Lots of configuration options.
