Not a joke. Less than a year after raising $20 million, Knightscope is back at it.

This time, $25,000 minimum investment, much higher than before and looking to raise up to $50 million at more than the double their valuation of last year.

Good luck, investors...

Are they literally just setting the money on fire?

Did they misplace the check from the previous round?

If they raise another 50 million - they should just put it in their pocket and walk away.  That will be a great payday for them and realistically will be the same return for the investors, just they will be able to write off the loss much more quickly.

What you are suggesting, you surely know, is illegal. I get the implied joke, though...

I am curious to see how much they actually get here. The minimum of $25,000 still allows for unsophisticated investors but that minimum is 7x as high as the average from the last round.

At least their roaming roombas look cool. I almost feel like they are still a bit ahead of their time.

i think that installing a floor cleaning machine on one of these is actually a great idea, can take cleanliness and efficiency up a notch. if they are patrolling on a set course they can also be used for mail delivery etc.

I think you're onto something with that idea. Let's patent our own robot - SecurVacBot and the SecurMailVac Bot as a premium offering.

can we add analytics to detect faulty lights/bulbs and mark for replacement as well?  If so, please count me in as well!  Analyze the analytics to an anal level to produce analysis of your assets!

All jokes aside, my largest deals came from speaking in ROI language and stories instead of security. "My product can help marketing, operations, safety.. this is how". A robot that can offer utility and cut costs across multiple departments within an organization would sell much better.

Or maybe adoption is slow because everyone has seen Chopping Mall https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chopping_Mall

Opening a storefront in NYC is a good use of proceeds. I wonder how the 5000+ investors feel about this??

Corner of E. 47th St. and Lexington - I'm sure this place didn't cost much  LOL

Anyone know the square footage? Real estate in Manhattan is fantastically expensive even for tiny spaces, it would be hundreds of thousands per year.

The counter will be, hey, if we just sell 1 (or 2 or whatever) more robot per month, it will pay for itself.

I saw it last week but decided not to post on it since, at least for Knightscope, this is not really all that crazy...

750 sq ft - $1800 per day / $24K per month.

Knightscope says they will only be there for 3 months:

Book your visit soon as we are only in town through November 30, 2018!

It appears to be in conjunction with this $50 million fund raising. That makes a bit more sense, I mean not investing in Knightscope, but this temporary store.

also, probably far less (cost-wise) than having a booth at GSX
