Is There A Way To Monitor Remotely To Be Sure Hikvision NVRs Are Recording?

Is there a way to monitor remotely to be sure hikvision NVRs are recording? We had an issue with a customer where the harddrive stopped recording. But when we logged in, we didnt see any errors. Replacing the drive fixed it.
