I could go on about my own opinions about why Latch and other (software) companies in the multifamily space have had challenges, but not really qualified to opine on this beyond my ongoing belief that it is challenging for companies NOT in the access control/locks business to effectively sell, install, and service access control systems that involve much more than wireless residential deadbolts.
That being said, their concept is definitely sound in that it integrates both commercial style access control doors with the residential style access control doors under one platform (at least it would appear this way to the end user). What really happens under the hood is more complex in that it usually involves cloud-to-cloud integration of several different access systems.
