After continuously having packages stolen from his porch, an inventor created the "Blank Box", a 12ga. shotgun blank in a decoy box that explodes if someone attempts to move it.

Some videos of it in action:

Hopefully this inventor has a lawyer on speed dial. Because I'm sure a personal injury lawyer is already assembling people to be victims.

I don’t get it.

Sure it might work, until you actually get a package or two and the carrier restacks the packages...oops.

One time I had a job (in highschool) where my boss caught a huge rat on a sticky trap and stuck it in my pencil drawer on my desk.  After two days in the dark, that thing was angry as something 10X it's size.  I roll open the drawer after a weekend, and all I remember is a bunch of angry orange teeth and violent crashing and shrieking in the drawer.

I'd almost rather have a blank 12 ga pop off on me than deal with an angry rat like that again.

Moral: Some people deserve to get rattled. Smart-Alec teens like me, sure.  But Thieves are at the top of that list.

I bet your pencils were sharpened at least :)

Evidently, this guy has a store where he sells this - The Blank Box Shop

And it is popular enough (or he has such limited production) that he is sold out on most items:

Also, he claims in this video demo, no harm to it:

Though pricey, the Axis Air Horn could stand in for the blank shells.

Plus never needs reloading and offers more flexibility in response sounds, e.g. sirens, ‘Freeze Punk!”, firing squad etc.
