Intermittent Magenta Stream From IP Camera

It isn't permanent and I have seen it go away permanently upon stabilizing the RJ-45 connector. It could be something else though, overall it was a remount of the camera that made it go away. Sometimes, even a power cycle can make it go away. Other times, a short line test proves the camera is fine, but the mounted camera on sight can't seem to avoid that.

What I don't understand is...how?

I would expect this from cameras that transmit video via an analog signal over coaxial cable. Isn't video being sent as packets in IP cameras? What is the actual cause? What is the real solution? Why is it almost always magenta?
