Installation Cleanup - What Type Of Shop Vac Do You Use?

We recently purchased a toolbox form factor battery powered wet/dry vacuum. It is made by Milwaukee, the same manufacturer of our drill which allows the two devices to share batteries and chargers.

Many tool manufacturers make something similar, as I have a very similar vacuum at home from Porter Cable, the brand of many of my battery operated tools. Aside from being cordless and sharing batteries the rectangle shape is better for storing it compared to the typical round / canister body models.

These certainly do not replace full size shop vacs, but are a great alternative to the ~2 gallon corded models that I have used in the past.  The argument to be had is that the corded models provide more power and are much lower priced than battery powered, e.g. the corded craftsman be found online for ~$30 USD, while battery powered models from tool manufacturers range from $50 - $120.

What do you or your installers use?

Dewalt 20v cordless vac, but then again we are a Dewalt house. One of my buddies has the Milwaukee cordless vac and loves it. Between the two it seems the Dewalt is slightly smaller and lighter but go figure doesn’t hold as much and I believe also has a shorter hose.

I would probably say any of the cordless/corded vac's are great to have. At the same time is it will serve as a blower as well these are great for cleaning out DVR/NVR's. Now someone will probably say you need an anti-static vac but I have personally cleaned out hundreds of recorders and never had an issue.

At another job, each location that had dedicated IT staff onsite was provided a datavac:

I’ve used DataVacs in the past.

They totally suck.  And they really blow too.  Even at the same time!

I can’t say enough good things about them.

I was always a fan of the toolbox style as they take up less room in the vans and you can use them as a seat on the job site.

I keep one of these in my cart:

I have pretty much the full line of M12 Fuel products, or so it seems.

I also have one of these just in case:

For better or worse we use this Nilfisk. Extra quiet, great suction and its HEPA rated.
