I have run a few IC Realtime cameras after they sent a rep to see me and wondered what the general consensus is about them? I will add link to some video later if anyone is interested

IC Realtime is a Dahua OEM, so you can probably do better buying Dahua or from a place called Savvytech. I do believe they put in their own firmware though, so the backdoor issues may not be there
John can I say that? Ehh he'll just delete/edit it.
I had a shady experience with one of their reps who kept calling me.Made me lose all confidence in the company.
Well, backdoor hit them just as hard from what I remember. The worst part is it's not always possible to flash the Dahua stock firmware over the ICRealtime stuff. Probably has something to do with the internal product ID being edited.
Stock firmware comes out a lot quicker and anyone who's had a chance to browse my FTP can tell that there's been a lot of development lately.
IC Realtime is most certainly a Dahua OEM. Their primary benefit would be the 10 year warranty they offer. Dahua model numbers of the products you have mentioned are below:
ICIP-D3812SL5 -> IPC-HDBW8331E-Z
ICIP-D2812SL5 -> IPC-HDBW8231E-Z
The question, of course, is "what is the value assertion of paying IC Realtime for those products as opposed to some other channel besides their 10 year warranty?"
Based on the pricing I saw you could replace a Dahua camera several times over to cover that 10 year warranty. This is going to sound crappy, but the guys in my area who use them seem to do so for their excellent installation support, which fits because these are typically security guys who want nothing to do with learning how to actually properly install surveillance. I'm not blocking my name because there is no way they'd ever take the time to actually research things on here.
Usually evey year, a new rep from this company hounds me. When I mention that I have heard they are a Dahua OEM, they get testy and counter this with a claim that all products are built in-house. Our receptionist has a yearly sitdown with me about the annoyance regarding the phone calls.
if they call, just say “no thanks”.
Similar experience here, trying to pass the cameras off as made in the USA. He did not like that I called him out on that.
If the rep is lying to you about where the cameras are made, or has been told that, that is not a company I can trust.
Same here, I had a nice lady call me from there a couple months ago and I told her that we were a Dahua distributor for many years and prefer not to go back to Dahua products. She countered that they manufacturer all of their products. She was really nice and I feel that she really believed that so I let her have her day in the sun and politely said, "oh thats nice, but I'm not interested"
OEM from Dahua. backdoor issue. Don't hear much about ICREALTIME on IPVM.
IC Realtime's "flagship" video analytics product ('Ella') got some press recently:

Has anyone played with it? Does IC Realtime really develop software? The screenshot has me wondering if they are relabeling Camio.
#2, yes, it is an OEM of Camio (see: Camio Natural Language Processing Tested). I am not sure what customizations IC Realtime has done.
FD I'm CEO of Camio. Yes, Camio and IC Realtime are partners in bringing real-time video search to the security industry. We operate as teammates in creating the whole-product solution based on IC Realtime's knowledge and experience with the needs of customers and integrators in this space. Ella is the result of our partnership and is powered by Camio. Ella includes the dealer portal and tools, custom subscription plans, automated payments from revenue sharing, fulfillment, training, technical support, sales and marketing critical to delivering an outstanding solution.
We chose the IC Realtime team because they're smart and fast-moving with 100% focus on advocating for customer needs (not for the brand they're selling). That clear-eyed feedback and fast iteration is the life-blood of Camio's success, because the speed of discovering and solving customer problems is a startup's sole advantage.
If you are partnering up with IC real-time. You are desperate. They are so much the wrong partner. But then again, I am not in your shoes.. I can be wrong
they churn and burn cold callers. New one calls in roughly every 6 weeks. Aside from overpriced Dahua I see no reason to work with them.
Thanks everyone for the information, I do like the cameras and the newer sales guys have been good to deal with ( the first one was really hard to get in touch with). At no point was I ever told that all cameras were US made, just that the high end ones.
I constantly receive calls from them, telling me that all of their cameras are made in Florida, which I know is an outright lie because the first rep I dealt with years ago told me that Dahua made the majority of their cameras. They still call me to this day, send me random webinar invites, etc. I tried a few of their cameras a few years ago and I was pretty underwhelmed.
I have worked with IC Realtime for many years. I am a somewhat small company that does a lot of large installations. My clients include Hospitals, Mines, and Energy companies. I have installed hundreds of these cameras and products and like working with IC Realtime. I also build in large separate security networks and specialize in wireless applications.
Here are some of my experiences with IC Realtime.
1. The company does offer fantastic support and hand holding for dealers who need it. This is definitely their strong suit. They will also program all cameras and wireless links and NVRs for free. I do not need this type of help, but if I have an equipment only customer, they will program everything and drop ship it which is nice.
2. I am a fan of their no questions asked RMA policy. I basically just call and get an RMA and send back whatever I don't need or like.
3. They have excellent integration with Crestron, Control 4, and other automation platforms. The IC Techs know IOT, the AV space, and are happy to help you solve custom integration issues. They also integrate with certain Paxton Access Control pieces. I know because I needed the access control for my projects.
4. They stand behind their products with a 10 year warranty.
5. A lot of their prices have dropped in the last year, so I would recommend revisiting those prices.
6. I do use them for large 50+ cameras installations and use their higher end NVRs with support for 4K cameras and they work very well.
7. Having said all of these things, no company is perfect. They have their issues like every other company. I will say that their support lines are really solid but slow. You need to have patience and leave your number so someone can call you back. I think because they are so customer focused they spend a large amount of time supporting non-technical integrators and this can clog up their support lines. I recently called regarding a problem with a weird legacy NVR issues and the support tech solved the problem in 15 minutes. I was pleased with his professionalism. A lot of dealers probably don't have any patience and hang up too soon.
8. I would say if you had poor experiences years ago with the company's analog equipment, it is much improved. I had some bad equipment from time to time, but I have had very little problems since around 5 years ago.
9. In regards to hacking and security issues. It seems like a lot of manufactures have been suffering from major security problems. For this reason I do not use port forwarding anymore. I encourage all my customers to let me install a VPN Firewall. I personally like FireFX -- it works well, and they know what they are doing. I am a dealer for them for total transparency, but I chose them because they know their stuff. They are ex-army signal corps who know networking. This is not really a plug. I would recommend that you stop using port forwarding, it is just asking for trouble.
10. It is true that Camio is the engine that powers Ella Search, but I know that IC spent a lot of time fine tuning it for the security and surveillance market. I am using it and think its fairly amazing. Having Google style search for my customers is a major differentiator. The best part is it only needs Meta Data so I am not clogging up their Internet bandwidth with unwanted data.
11. Finally, they are very good about supporting my business. They have a dealer portal where I can buy stuff any time of day. They help me with my sales if I need help. They seem to really care of helping me succeed and for that reason I have stuck with them for many years.
